New Physical Rehab Center Prepares For Opening

The Providence Rehab Center in Sandusky, Ohio is nearing completion. The 70,000 sq foot center will provide 14 new resident rooms and an expanded physical therapy room, water aerobics center, and occupational therapy areas to assist in the rehabilitation of those recovering from orthopedic surgeries.
The new Rehab Center, built within a former convent, has intentionally established a different interior environment from the attached Providence Care Center, a 148 bed nursing facility, so as to better attract a “baby boomer” demographic.
Design Collective, working with the Center’s owners, Franciscan Living Communities, and MKC Architects, established a “modern lodge” metaphor for the interior finishes that include cut stone and timbers on the two-sided fireplace, textured wood-look vinyl floors, and earth-tone wall colors.
